Dodgers beat rival Giants and Preview for the 2006 Season

The Dodgers beat the Giants after losing game one of the series at Dodger Stadium before a
nearly packed house.  Dioner Navarro, who came over in the Shawn Green deal, had 2 RBI’s and
Odalis Perez pitched beautifully to out duel Giants ace Jason Schmidt 3-1.
Barry Bonds had one hit (a double to left in the 9th inning) and was booed continuously.
These are tough times for Bonds, who is going through Federal Investigations for Steroids and
possibly perjury.  He is also having elbow problems after last years knee injuries while
chasing down Ruth and Aaron for the Home Run Record.

The Dodgers are having injuries of their own with Eric Gagne most likely out for the
season with his right arm hurt along with Yhency Brazoban (torn ligament in his right
throwing elbow);  Jayson Werth out at least 2 more months after wrist surgery late last year.
Newcomer Nomar Garciaparra on the DL with a strained ribcage muscle but he should be back
soon.  With a makeshift lineup and some key acquisitions, the Dodgers believe they can give
it a run for the rest of the year.  Shortstop Rafael Furcal (formally of the Atlanta Braves)
provides speed and experience along with 3rd baseman Bill Mueller from the Red Sox.  Jose
Cruz Jr and Kenny Lofton help in the outfield and all star reliever/closer Dany Baez from
Tampa Bay and born in Cuba was perhaps the most important pickup now with Gagne out.  Manager
Grady Little has his hands full but they do have talent.
New cushion seats on the field level make it more comfortable for the fans.

Security has been added for protection for anyone thinking of running on the field or throwing
anything at players.  More info/tickets at www.ladodgers.com

Come see this new team and their quest for another Division Title.  Sunday’s game is at 5pm
on ESPN for the rubber game of the 3 game series.
