Roys Restaurant Review in Rancho Mirage (The best seafood you can get!) 4/06

     Roy Yamaguchi started “Roys” in his native state of Hawaii and now has 29 restaurants across the USA.  His fabulous Hawaiian fusion cuisine specializes in Seafood and it is the best and highest quality around.  Each of the restaurants flies in fresh fish from Hawaii and other places daily.  We made a visit to the Rancho Mirage location near Palm Springs, Ca.  

     Executive Chef/Partner, Roger Liang, creates some unique and delectable dishes.  Appetizers included the Crispy Kung Pao Calamari in his special sauce; Lobster Potstickers; Yellow Fin Ahi Poketini with avocado and caviar; crisped spicy Tuna maki roll; and Sea Scallops in peanut sauce.  A selection of salads but we had to go with the Maui Wowie Shrimp salad with Maui onions, feta cheese, avocado and caper lime dressing.

     Main course suggestions were the Hawaiian Macadamia Mahi Mahi; Lemongrass Crusted Opah; Delicate Butterfish with soy vinaigrette; Striped Bass; Braised Monkfish “Osso Bucco Style” with noodles and broiled Swordfish with blue crab.

     There are other options such as steaks, chops, and chicken but the Fish is the thing to come for.  The menu changes daily but there are always great fresh fish selections to choose from. There is also a price fixe 3 course dinner for only $33.

     Oh yeah, do not forget to have the Melting Chocolate Soufflé which requires 20-30 minutes to make but well worth it! Might as well splurge when you come here!
