Looking for a fabulous fine dining experience near the beach in Malibu? A great find is "Granita Restaurant" featuring a beautiful Marble Bar and Friday Night Martini Lounge.
In its 12th year of existence, this could be one of Wolfgang Puck’s and Barbara Lazaroff’s most creative and outstanding establishments. With a lot of contemporary artwork, colorful design, beautiful windows, and a comfortable ocean feeling, Granita is pure enjoyment to come in and relax for drinks or enjoy a delicious meal. Ms. Lazaroff put a lot of work into the incredible architecture, interior design, lighting, tile, marble, koi pond, glass sculptures, and fine art and decor. Now on to the great food.
Executive Head Chef Jennifer Naylor returns from working and studying under one of Italy’s great chefs Gianfranco Vissani in one of his fine cuisines in Italy. Ms. Naylor’s unique and creative recipes, also working with many Charities outside Granita makes her well known and established as one of the elite chefs in the city. She is very innovative with her dishes along with providing a great variety of delicious choices.
Some of the dishes I highly suggest would be the Parmesan Soup and crispy potato galette with a house smoked salmon and dill cream for starters. One can also choose from a nice selection of pizzas from the wood-burning oven such as The 4 onions with fresh mozzarella. Some of their specialty entrees are the Sea Scallops with orzo pasta; the Bucatini Pasta with Bouchot Mussels from Maine; Outstanding Rack of Lamb with mashed potatoes and spinach; and my favorite choice which was perfectly cooked Ahi Tuna with Wasabi mashed potato puree and chinese long beans in a black bean sauce. Be sure to choose a nice bottle of wine from their great wine list of French/Italian/and California Fine Wines to compliment your meal. Finally, be sure not to miss their signature desserts such as the Shaved Ice Italian Ice Creams and the Unbelievable Chocolate Plate!
