LA Galaxy beat Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center in an Exciting Local Team matchup (4/07)

LA Galaxy beat Chivas USA on April 28, 2007 at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles in this match up of two local teams. The Galaxy had yet to win a game and were 0-1-1 coming in while Chivas was 2-1. Chivas had to play without midfielder Sacha Kljestan who is a key to their team but was suspended for this game because of unsportsmanlike conduct in a prior game.

The story of this game was Landon Donovan the two time US player of the year dominated with a goal and two assists as the Galaxy won 3-1. After he started off the scoring with a goal he assisted on teammate Kevin Harmse’s goal with a beautiful feed. His last assist came in spectacular fashion as he got away from two players and hurled over a defender to pass a perfect ball to the on coming Cobi Jones who netted his first goal of the season. Jones was a late substitution and had some fresh legs to beat his defender and put away the game. Galaxy goalkeeper Joel Cannon made some brilliant saves and is a key to the team.
