“Celedon” Exotic Cuisine with an Elaborate Menu is an Incredible Dining Experience (2/08)

Looking for a new exciting all around restaurant with fine food and great atmosphere? We discovered “Celedon” recently. This venue has it all. Celedon has a middle eastern/Asian flare with European tapas and a great décor.  They will be celebrating their one-year anniversary soon. Start with one of their fabulous Crudos, (sushi related appetizers). The two musts are the Hamachi Spoons and the Tuna Tartar Lollipops. The Hamachi Spoons are yellowtail with lemon, garlic and crème fraiche. Very light and tasty.  The Tuna Tartar Lollipops are a great creation. The raw tuna is served with tempura style crispy rice on a lollipop stick with a seaweed salad garnish.

Move onto the Yam Cha (other appetizers) such as the crab dumplings, spicy hummus with grilled zaatar bread or the Kobe Beef Sliders.  Many people come to Celedon just for these sliders as they melt in your mouth! The delicious miniature Kobe Beef burgers are served on a sesame bun with chipotle mayo.  There is a nice assortment of salads and soups from miso soup to vegetable chopped salad. Our favorite was the Tempura Spicy Shrimp Salad with candied walnuts and edible flowers. What a combination!

Time to move onto the entrée selections. Try the roast chicken and duck, grilled prime beef, Moroccan lamb, glazed pork chops or the 36-hour short ribs with potato and leeks. Executive chef, Danny Elmaleh who puts his heart and soul into all of his preparations, creates all of these wonderful dishes.  He is a culinary expert with a unique style. Every dish is has a creative spin… like no other!  A variety of seafood and wok dishes from roasted scallops, miso salmon, grilled octopus or the roast snapper with blue crab salad are offered.  The snapper was cooked to perfection. Try one of their sizzling noodle or rice dishes brought to the table in boiling clay bowls.  The dishes are served family style with beautiful presentation.  Our server Mika did a great job as did the other staff.  General Manager Brian Keeth is so hospitable and makes a great effort to come around to see how your meal is going.  If you have any room left, end with the apple doughnuts or crème brulee with kiwi/strawberry fruit.

The booths are very comfortable and cushy. The restaurant is colored with brown and warm tones accented with bamboo and green foliage. There are countless candles flickering on the walls which really enhance the romantic atmosphere.  Orange drapery and dark wood provide more décor.  The heated patio and bar make this place a hot spot on the weekends.  There is also a private room, fireplace and wide screen TV.

Don’t miss one of their specialty cocktails or wines from their extensive list.

Located at 7910 West Third Street in LA, reservations are encouraged on the weekends. Please call 323-658-8028 or visit their website at www.celedonla.com
