In a seemingly daring move, legendary club owner, Jamie Masada, after over 3 years of planning, opened the Long Beach Laugh Factory last Saturday night.

Located on popular Pine Street, across from the Shoreline, the new Laugh Factory packed the house for its new launch.  The new club offers food and drink service, two seating levels, and an optional VIP section. The inside of the venue is beautiful and the decor is amazing.

Opening night’s audience was composed of talent, the owner and staff, media, the Long Beach mayor, and ticketed guests.  Ticket proceeds were donated to the United Jewish Federation.

At a cost of about $10.Million, and in light of today’s economy, the opening of a comedy club is a convincing investment in the belief that humor is invaluable; and laughter is good for the soul.

Asked from where he will pool his talent, owner Jamie Masada said. "I use Los Angeles comics, and sometimes New York comedians".   A strong example of both is Jon Lovitz (pictured below with Masada), who not only performs in the New York Laugh Factory, but also recently signed a lifetime contract to perform every Wednesday in the Hollywood Laugh Factory.  It was no surprise, then, that Jon was featured and well received at the Long Beach Laugh Factory opening night. This is the 3rd Laugh Factory to be opened, the other being in New York. Pictured below on the left is Jamie with the Mayor of Long Beach.

The story behind Mr. Masada is incredible. He moved to LA when he was 14 yrs. old and get the help of a family friend. The friend wasn’t on the level and he had to find odd jobs and sleep in a carport just to survive and send money back to his family.  He could hardly speak English and had to learn. 2 years later with the help of Producer/Writer Neil Israel, Masada opened the Laugh Factory at the age of 16 to get more comics working and paid. It has translated into a genius move and helped many comedians make it big.  Masada also helps homeless and other striving organizations. He puts on free dinners during Thanksgiving and Christmas every year for anyone involved in the Industry to come that doesn’t have a place to go.  Masada was a pleasure to chat with and he has a heart of Gold.

Comedians that showed up on opening night were Alonzo Bodden, Frazier Smith Jeremy Hotz, Jon Lovitz, and Paul Rodriquez each doing some standup for the packed house. The Laugh Factory is located at 151 Pine St. in Long Beach, Ca. 90802.
