TASTE AT THE BEACH—THE SOUTH BAY’S TOP SUMMER EVENT

 
Hermosa Beach, Ca……The Kiwanis Club of Hermosa Beach is hosting their Fifth Annual Taste At The Beach Food and Wine Extravaganza on Sunday, August 22 from 4-8PM at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, (corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Pier Avenue). This year the Event will benefit the Hermosa Schools’ Libraries Programs. As usual, the event will feature the finest wine and gourmet dishes from the area’s top restaurants, caterers and wine vendors, a live jazz band and silent auction.
 
"Guests can walk from table to table sampling some of the best dishes from the finest restaurants, caterers and vintners, while sipping their favorite wine and listening to great jazz. "What could be better than great food and wine in a beautiful relaxed summer setting," said event coordinator Paul Amarillas. "Last year we sold out so better get your tickets early," he added.
 
Restaurants and vintners participating in the event include: Mediterraneo, Whole Foods, Catering by Leslie Schirle, Cantina Real, Club 705, Buona Vita Trattoria, Silvio’s Brazilian BBQ, Ocean Diner, Fresh Brothers, Java Man, Paciugo Italian Gelato, Phuket Thai, Kona Essence, Pinkie’s BBQ, Manhattan Bread and Bagel, W’s China Bistro, China Grill, Chelsea Pub and Lounge, HT Grill, Barefoot Wine and Champagne, Firestone Walker Brewing co., Pemberton Fine Wines & Spirits, AJB Vineyards, and Classic wines.
 
"At a time when most people are trying to cut back on expenses, this is a great way to dine out, experience fine cuisine from a variety of top restaurants, pair it with your favorite wine and not have to reach deeply into your pockets," said Taste at the Beach Chairman Bob McEachen.
 
Jan Brittain who heads the silent auction committee is very excited about this year’s selection. "We have items at great bargains for everyone; individuals, groups and families. " I just might bid myself on the one week vacation in Puerto Vallarta, "she exclaimed.
 
Julie and Richard Chertow who have attended all four Taste At The Beach events can’t wait. "For foodies like us this is the best summer event in the South Bay! There is nothing better than to be able to sample so many tasty dishes from our local restaurants in one setting."
 
This year proceeds from Taste At The Beach will go to support the Hermosa Schools’ Libraries Programs. "With the state budget crisis in such dire straits , school funding has been decimated, we are so grateful to the Kiwanis club for helping to maintain these much needed and well deserved programs," said Cathy McCurdy, a member of the Hermosa Beach School Board of Education.
