Dodgers beat Phillies as both battle for wild card. Manny released to White Sox (8/30/10)

On the day the Dodgers let troubled Manny Ramirez to on waivers to the White Sox and the LA Times report of the upcoming McCourt divorce proceeding, the home team won 3-0 behind a strong pitching performance by Hiroki Kuroda. Kuroda took a no-hitter into the 8th inning before Shane Victorino lined a clean single with one out to break it up.  Manager Joe Torre signaled current ace reliever Hong-Chih Kuo with 2 outs and he retired pinch hitter Mike Sweeney on one pitch with a ground out to short and earned a save pitching the ninth.  Newcomer Rod Barajas hit a home run and the Dodgers took advantage of a rare off night performance by star pitcher Roy Halladay.  LA needs a strong September and help from all the other teams ahead of them in wild card race to have a chance.   The Dodgers saved $3.8 million by letting Manny go on waivers as he wore out his welcome.
