Ski Stories

Snow Summit Ski Resort in California less than 3 hrs from Los Angeles (2/13)

On our visit to Big Bear, we had the pleasure of visiting Snow Summit Family and ski resort.

There was a snow storm on the previous two days, so the conditions were amazing!

Snow Summit is known for being better suited for skiers, as Big Bear Mountain caters more to snowboarders with their
excellent snowboarding park. But don’t get me wrong, if you like to just cruise down the slopes snowboarding,
Snow Summit’s wide open runs won’t disappoint you!

Being that the conditions were so good, the main parking lot was packed! but this was greatly handled by the staff
directing us to extra parking, then taking a 5 minute ride on their schedule to the resort.

In not time, thanks to the extremely well organized and fast ski rentals facilities, we were ready to get on the ski lifts.
This was already a treat, with the great alpine views of the mountain and the Big Bear lake it self.

We took Chair 2, which is the “all mountain express lift”. From up there, you have a choice of the different runs. Specially attractive to families, is
on your left, The Family Park that goes down to chair #9. This run expands across 5 different intermediate to slow zones.
Straight down takes you to The Freestyle Park, chair #3. We continually opted to go a bit to the right to the mellow Miracle Mile and Log Chute intermediate runs
back to chair #2, but we could not leave before trying the world famous West Ridge Park and it’s signature features top to bottom.

The Wall, Dicky’s and Olympic runs are for the advanced skier who like their run steep and challenging.

From the beginner, who have access to unparalleled learning programs to the expert, Snow Summit runs will not leave you
wanting more!

The sun is down and you still want more…..No problem!  Snow Summit for more than 40 years, has offered excellent night skiing.
