Italy American Chamber of Commerce ongoing fitness and healthy eating educating under privileged children October 2013

We attended the fantastic fitness class and food demo tasting at Pure Barre in Beverly Hills a couple weeks ago.  It was a great way to experience a great workout followed by a tasty healthy lunch.  Everyone should keep an eye out for future events and this great program put on by the IACCW known as the Italy America Chamber of Commerce West

The project is an ongoing initiate for IACCW and they get in touch with different types of locations-outlets. We did the fitness center food tasting events and then they also worked with LAUSD to take the project and explain it to under privileged children, while having after school cooking demos. Today they went to West Hollywood Elementary to discuss the project with students. They have 1 more fitness center event with NAAM Yoga in October.

We attended the Monday, September 23rd event at Pure Barre Beverly Hills in partnership with the Italy America Chamber of Commerce West -IACCW. The event will feature special guests, Chef Nico Chessa, Executive Chef of Valentino Restaurant (Santa Monica, CA) and Giorgio Ristorante (Las Vegas, NV) and esteemed LA-based nutritionist from the the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and Professor at David Geffen School of Medicine, Dr. Dena Herman.

The IACCW is leveraging LA’s obsession with health and fitness by partnering with the city’s most elite fitness centers to re-introduce the Mediterranean Diet with a 3-pronged approach:

  1. Talking about the health benefits of the diet’s staples.(presented by Dr. Dena Herman) For example, Omega-3, B-vitamins and Vitamin C, all commonly found in Mediterranean food, contribute to mental and cardiovascular health as well as decreasing chances of Alzheimer’s disease, depression and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.

  2. Showing how to use these ingredients in the most flavorful ways, inspired by his restaurants. (presented by Chef Nico)

  3. Teaching LA’s fitness community how to get these authentically Italian ingredients in LA, most conveniently/affordably. (presented by IACCW)

This is the third out of five events throughout Los Angeles hosted by the IACCW in partnership with fitness centers as part of their Authentically EATalian series.
