In Santa Monica there is a real hidden gem that not only has great food and cocktails, but is also one of the most aesthetically pleasing restaurants in the entire city of Los Angeles. If you enjoy outdoor dining, you have to try Wilshire Restaurant. Their patio is absolutely gorgeous. You are sitting under beautiful trees and canopies. I can think of very few places where you can find this kind of outdoor dining experience. If it happens to be a cold day, no need to worry. They have plenty of heaters. If you prefer to eat indoors, they have great indoor dining too.
Whether you want to just unwind, have a cocktail, or enjoy a great meal, this is a great place to go. It’s a great place for a date and also a great place to entertain clients. For starters they have great drinks. They are known for their hand crafted cocktails and they have 7 unique cocktails that are referred to on the menu as “The 7 Deadly Drinks”. One is called “Greed” and is made with ketel one, green grapes, basil, fresh lime, and ginger ale. Another one of their popular drinks is called “Envy”. It is made with green chartreuse, lillet blanc, fresh lime, agave, and apple bitters. These drinks taste every bit as good as they are creative.
We came for dinner and sat outside on a beautiful summer night. We started with a Wild Mushroom Flat-bread, fresh Hamachi Yellowtail served sashimi style and a Ricotta stuffed ravioli for appetizers. All three were light, with wonderful delicate flavors. Simply superb!
For our main dishes we had a Miso Marinated Black Cod that melted in your mouth, Braised Short Ribs with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes that was cooked to perfection, and a Roasted Half Chicken with wonderful stuffing. The menu has a lot to choose from including, Scottish Salmon, Roast Duck, and Wood Grilled Steaks. For dessert we loved the flour-less chocolate cake with a scoop of Coconut milk ice cream. It was just perfect with an ice cappuccino or after dinner drink. The service was excellent from the hostess to the waiter. Run don’t walk this summer to try this great dining experience in Santa Monica with nice décor and a top notch meal. They have valet parking and also easy street parking nearby.
