The Jerk Spot Jamaican Restaurant in Culver City hole in the wall tasty food- March, 2015

The Jerk Spot is a casual Jamaican restaurant hidden in an extensively long strip

mall located at the mouth of Culver City’s restaurant row. It has traditional Jamaican

street food, grilled fresh and served quickly from a small, spotlessly clean kitchen.

The inside of the place is clean and well kept, but the mood of the place could use a

little life. But that’s okay…because the food is amazing!

We ordered the white meat Jerk Chicken, which came with a side of sauteed veggies

and rice. The chicken had a nicely seasoned, sweet and crispy skin on it that, upon

first bite, reminded me of that annual, euphoric feeling when you slice off and savor

that super crunchy, basted piece of Thanksgiving turkey skin. Lying underneath that

little silver of sweet and crispy skin was an unbelievably tender and juicy piece of

white meat roasted to perfection.  We also had the dark meat chicken curry.

The rice and veggies were an excellent addition to the meal,

providing different textures and mild flavors that readied the palate for

that next bite of Jerk chicken.

The end of the meal entailed a sweet little surprise –

reggae bread. It’s a small, thin pastry that has the density of deep-fried hush puppies

coupled with the sweetness and finish of an old-fashioned cake donut. Absolutely

delicious…and the best way to end a wonderful meal. They are re-doing their website at this time but

they can be found at 9006 Venice Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232
