DAVE KOZ AND RICK BRAUN RETURN TO THE

HOLLYWOOD BOWL FOR A NIGHT OF

SMOOTH SUMMER JAZZ

SUNDAY, AUGUST 23 AT 6PM

Media sponsor: 94.7 The Wave

WHAT: The Hollywood Bowl presents its annual evening of the finest smooth

jazz with Dave Koz and Rick Braun featuring Kenny Lattimore and

Maysa, plus Larry Graham and Graham Central Station, Macy

Gray and Harvey Mason Chameleon. The evening begins at 6pm

on August 23 at the Hollywood Bowl.

In the 25 years since the release of his self-titled solo debut album,

saxophonist Dave Koz has received nine Grammy nominations, had

seven albums top Billboard’s Current Contemporary Jazz Albums chart,

toured the world and been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk

of Fame. Collaborations: 25th Anniversary Collection, Koz’s latest

album on Concord Records, features three brand new tracks – “Good

Foot” with Jeff Lorber, “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and

Higher” with Kenny Lattimore and Rick Braun and “Let It Go” (from

Frozen) with Sturken & Rogers – plus previously recorded

collaborations with Barry Manilow (who recently tapped Koz as opener

on his One Last Time! tour of the U.S.), Luther Vandross, Stevie Nicks,

Stevie Wonder, Toby Keith, Herb Alpert, Rod Stewart, David Benoit

and Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, among others.

Rick Braun, the trumpeter-flugelhorn player-vocalist, is a consistent

chart-topper who has amassed a catalogue of No. 1 Billboard

Contemporary Jazz chart and radio hits throughout his solo career that

began in earnest in 1992. On Can You Feel It, his 16th release, Braun

fondly conjures the spirit of his 1994 breakthrough release Beat Street

in a return to his jazz-funk roots while continuing to record and

collaborate with old and new musical friends.

Hailed by The New York Times as a “modern soul man,” Grammy-

nominated singer/songwriter Kenny Lattimore is climbing the charts

once again with another hit in the making: “Love Me Back.” The simple

feel-good track is the lead single from Lattimore’s seventh solo album,

Anatomy of a Love Song. The project is the first release from the

singer’s eOne Music-distributed Sincere Soul Records. Focused on

Lattimore’s mesmerizing skill set – tender vocals and penetrating,

honest lyrics – Anatomy of a Love Song reflects a 21st century

perspective of love and relationships.

In 2014, Maysa was nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B

Performance for “Quiet Fire,” a Nancy Wilson remake she recorded on

her 2013 release Blue Velvet Soul. Blessed with an instantly

identifiable honey-toned mezzo soprano and an undeniably brilliant

and magnetic stage presence, Maysa’s alluring vocals, candor, humor

and purity as an artist make her a rarity in this business. Having

collaborated with everyone from Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan to

Incognito and Angela Bofill, Maysa can hang with the best.

In the early 70s, Larry Graham left Sly and the Family Stone and

formed a new musical group called Graham Central Station. Known

for hits like “Can You Handle It” and “Feel the Need,” the group was

nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1974. Their single

“Your Love” landed in the Top 40 and topped the R&B charts. The

group’s last album was released in 1999. Larry has performed at

international venues both as a solo performer as well as with Graham

Central Station and Prince

Macy Gray – a multi-award winning, multi-platinum selling singer,

songwriter, actress and mother of three teenagers – has been

overturning fan expectation and industry formula since the beginning

of her musical career in 2000 with her critically acclaimed debut album

On How Life Is. With a colorful career that includes multiple Grammy,

Billboard, MTV and BRIT Awards, and record sales of over 25 million

worldwide, the integrity and innovation of Macy Gray’s artistry has

allowed her to forge her own path to success and win fans and critics

from all around the world.

Harvey Mason is among the most recorded and in-demand drummers

of all-time. A legendary, multi-Grammy nominated session drummer,

producer, composer & recording artist, he has worked with a pantheon

of musical giants, including Barbra Streisand, James Brown, Herbie

Hancock, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Frank

Sinatra, Ray Charles, Björk, Carlos Santana, Michael Jackson, John

Legend, Seal, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Chameleon,

Mason’s solo debut for Concord Records and 10th solo project overall,

adds one more remarkable chapter to his legacy.
