LA Galaxy defeat Dallas in a big contest for the Division Lead as season ends soon- September 2015

The LA Galaxy pulled out a huge win over rival Dallas to forge ahead in the standings as the regular season nears the end. The playoffs approach and getting a bye is a big advantage as is home field advantage. Giovani dos Santos, Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard all scored to provide the winning 3-2 final score. Both dos Santos and Keane assisted on each other’s goals while Keanne also hit 2 crossbars or he could have had another goal or two. The team looked sharp and in full control of the match even though Dallas didn’t give up and got closer with a goal in the last 4 minutes at the Stub Hub Center.

LA climbed two points ahead of Vancouver in the West (and two also ahead of the New York Red Bulls in the Shield race) and three in front of Dallas (and also ahead of New England and Columbus in the overall standings). This was their first victory in the MLS since August 23rd and a big one it was. They have used the same starting lineup in 6 of the last 7 games as it seems to be their #1 first team with Alan Gordon being subbed in late quite often to provide energy and a fresh big body forward.
