USA Soccer Men’s National Team draws 0-0 during first game in 2018

The new look US Men’s National team came into their first game of 2018 behind new coach Dave Sarachan  and played to a 0-0 draw vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina for this International Friendly at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, Ca. Pretty much all main players who have played key games the last 2 years for the World Cup qualifying were not on the team.

Many new young players were in the game with quite a few others making their debut as they now have to retool how to come back from the terrible end of 2017 to not qualify to go to Russia this year. Starting goalie Bill Hamid played great in goal turning away a close shot late in the first half. Jordan Morris just missed a goal on a pass from Will Trapp (who was the captain in his first MNT start). That may have been their best chance early in the second half.

Bosnia’s best chance came in the 53rd minute when Menalo earned a penalty kick by defender Walker Zimmerman of the USA. Luckily, their captin Haris Medunjanin’s pk went off the left post to keep the game scoreless. The US had a great chance but midfielder Cristian Roldan shot just wide. Bosnia had one other great chance but second half goalie Zach Steffen (in his first USA appearance) made a diving save.
