*** CARNAVAL in Brazil is a yearly weeklong celebration in the month of
February. It is known across the world as the biggest party on the planet
and as a celebration of life, art, culture and tradition. The whole country
literally shuts down as millions of natives and tourists take the streets in
full spirit and parade in their beautiful masks and colorful costumes.
Carnaval began on January 1840 in Rio de Janeiro, where people wore marks,
mustaches and masquerades. Twelve years later music was incorporated as Zi
Pereira, was the first band that performed with percussion instruments in
the streets. Over the years, cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Bahia
celebrate their own carnaval parades that have been recognized across the globe.
