The Porterhouse Bistro Steakhouse in Beverly Hills (4/05)

The Porterhouse Bistro in Beverly Hills is an
unpretentious, inviting place to come and relax and
have an amazing meal.  The decor is comfortable yet
refined.  Big French windows looking out to

Wilshire Blvd.

shed plenty of light into the room and its white
tablecloth draped tables.  Watching the hustle and
bustle outside on the busy street makes you that much
more appreciative that you are sitting amongst friends
in this fabulous setting.

The first thing that you notice at the Porterhouse
Bistro is the warm and friendly atmosphere.  You are
greeted with smiles and a wait staff that sincerely
looks happy to be there.  The service, as a result,
was exceptional.

Arriving soon after you are seated was a basket of
sliced French baguette fresh from the La Brea Bakery.
The bread was accompanied by ramekins of freshly
chopped roma tomatoes with basil and olive oil, a
delicious olive tepenade and a cooked whole roasted
garlic which spread like rich butter once peeled from
its shell.  The only complaint about this was it was
impossible to stop eating!

For starters the signature Porterhouse salad with baby
greens, cherry tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese in a
balsamic vinaigrette was outstanding as well as their
own caesar salad recipe and the onion soup with sweet
sautéed onions in a light broth with melted parmesan
cheese and topped by a golden dome of puff pastry.
You can’t go wrong with any of these.

The star of the night is definitely the steaks.  The
steaks are presented on a large 500 degree platter
slightly tilted.  The filet part of the steak is
attached but the rest is cut into big bite size
slices.  They then pour garlic and shallot infused
natural oils over the steak to create a masterpiece.
The oil collects at the bottom of the tilted plate and
can be used for dipping every incredible bite.
Usually after eating 20 or so ounces of steak you are
sluggish and stuffed.  These steaks left you feeling
satisfied, but not satiated. The New Your steak was savory and filling without making one feel as if he cannot move afterwards.  The meat is so tender and light that you can eat a huge steak and still have
room for dessert which is highly recommended.

You can’t go wrong with any of the desserts.  The
chocolate or crispy apple tart or crème brule is a
great way to top off your meal.  On special occasions
they bring out a huge hive of cotton candy.  It was
such a unique and fun treat. It was a reminder of
being a kid again and having fun.

There is something about the Porterhouse Bistro that
was fun.  The combination of the service, the food and
drinks, and the amazing desserts made for a very
special evening.

It’s amazing how the little things can go such a long
way in making a dining experience so pleasurable. This
can be said of Porterhouse Bistro, a top notch
Steakhouse in
Beverly Hills. Every smile from the
accommodating wait staff surely did not go unnoticed
and their helpful attitude was most refreshing. The
atmosphere was upscale without feeling too
stuffy….perfect for a night on the town with friends
or when you’re out with that special someone.
Overall, The Porterhouse Bistro was a
memorable experience and comes highly recommended. The best quality of The Porterhouse Bistro is the service.  We were welcomed and brought to our table immediately.  Good and professional service is something one does not always find.

Our waiter was super friendly and suggested different items on the menu.  He knew the menu and explained in detail his favorites.  He was also not in a rush to get to another table.

The space is very comfortable.  We sat in a lush booth which is something one would wish for on a Friday after work.  Of course, the wine was a nice start with the help of a waiter suggesting which to choose.

The food is very hearty and filling.  The portions were big but one would only think that going to a steakhouse. The steaks are a little pricey but well worth it.  The warm chocolate soufflé cake with vanilla ice cream was the perfect way to end an evening.
