By popular demand, a second night has been added for the Chicago and the Doobie Brothers co-headlining performance at Gibson Amphitheatre. The added date will be Friday, June 6th with tickets going on sale Sunday, April 20th at 12 Noon.  Tickets for the June 5th concert are on sale now.

Formed in their namesake city in 1967, Chicago’s music mixed rock, pop and jazz in a completely new way.  Propelled by innovative horn arrangements, the band’s commercial potential was soon apparent; when in 1970 the band hit the charts with its first of 21 Top 10 singles. The group would go on to score five consecutive #1 albums starting in 1972 with Chicago V and concluding with Chicago IX – Chicago’s Greatest Hits. In a career both influential and extensive, Chicago has sold more than 100 million records and continues to tour every year to sold-out audiences.

2007 marked Chicago’s 40th anniversary as a band– a show of longevity rarely achieved in the music business.  The band has sold 100 million records, netted 21 Top 10 hits, five #1 albums, five #1 singles and five gold singles. An incredible 25 of their 30 albums have been certified platinum. To date, Chicago is the first American band to chart Top 40 albums in five consecutive decades.

Since forming in 1970, the Doobie Brothers have evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected rock band. With over three decades of great music to their credit, the Doobie Brothers have sold over 22 million albums.  The group has racked up 13 gold and 11 multi-platinum albums, along with the # 1 hits "Black Water” and “What A Fool Believes.”  On tour, they have performed around the world for more than 35 million fans.

Their latest release is The Very Best of the Doobie BrothersThe band has also been working on new material in the studio with longtime producer Ted Templeman (who produced 12 of the Doobies’ classic albums) for the first time since the One Step Closer album in 1980.
