Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, Ca. is spectacular right on the ocean (6/10)

If you are looking for a Paradise vacation around the LA area, you must visit Terranea.  This huge resort over-looking the Pacific Ocean in Palos Verdes is surreal and dream-like.  There are a variety of room types (guest rooms, suites, bungalows, casitas and villas) including many ocean views, which I highly recommend. The spacious rooms are decorated beautifully with a flat screen tv, wifi access, a comfortable bed, separate tub, shower and toilet with robes to use while relaxing.  You will feel like you are in Hawaii as you listen to the waves while you sleep like a baby.  Speaking of babies, the resort is family and kid friendly with many amenities for children.  The resort is built high on a bluff so you are not right down on the beach, which is open to the public.  This provides more privacy and sounds of only ocean waves crashing and nature from your room.  There is a nice pool for everyone and an adult pool if you want to relax without any young ones around.  Take a run or walk to the beach nearby.  There is a cave to explore, but be careful if the rocks are wet so you don’t slip.  There are cabanas and beach chairs available along with kayaks to rent.

The resort is enormous as they have capabilities of doing five weddings in one day to give you an idea of the size.  Make sure to visit the fitness center, pool and spa.  The spa offers all types of treatments, massages and facials with a beautiful setting and relaxation lounge with a view of the ocean.  The spa café offers some light bites too.

A selection of restaurants for your meals is offered.  We dined at the Catalina Kitchen. Our waiter, Craig, was very personable and knowledgeable.  We started with the delicious clam chowder and burrata cheese-heirloom tomatoes salad, fresh basil, balsamic, pesto, grilled crostini which was mouth watering.  We then split the wonderful margherita flatbread pizza- tomato, mozzarella cheese, basil from the wood stone oven.  For entrees, we had the pan roasted fresh halibut with veggies and our favorite dish- the free range roasted chicken with herb spatzle, mushrooms, lemon thyme & chicken jus. I usually do not order chicken at a restaurant but took Craig’s recommendation, as this is the restaurant’s specialty. Do not miss this dish. One of the best chicken dishes I have ever had.

Weather you are visiting Los Angeles or live in LA and want to get away to a place not like any other resort around, Terranea is your destination.  For more information, visit www.terranea.com
