Benjamin Millepied’s World Acclaimed Company Returns with 3 Brand New Performances Including a Preview of a New Work by Benjamin Millepied and a U.S. Premiere by Celebrated Choreographer Emanuel Gat

WHAT:        L.A. Dance Project returns to the Theatre at Ace Hotel in Downtown LA with a brand new program. The program includes a new piece by Benjamin Millepied with music by Philip Glass, the U.S. premiere of Morgan’s Last Chug choreographed by Emanuel Gat as well as the reprise of the highly acclaimed Quintett by William Forsythe with music by Gavin Bryars and costumes by Stephen Galloway.

About L.A. Dance Project

L.A. Dance Project is an artist collective founded in 2012 by renowned choreographer and dancer Benjamin Millepied, along with founding producer Charles Fabius, composers Nico Muhly and Nicholas Britell and art consultant Matthieu Humery.

L.A. Dance Project promotes new collaborative work by emerging and established artists and revisits influential multidisciplinary dance collaborations from the past. Based in Downtown Los Angeles inside the Los Angeles Theatre Center, the company creates innovative platforms for contemporary dance and expands the experience of dance and dance education to audiences of all ages.

L.A. Dance Project’s inaugural performance, commissioned by The Music Center and Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center, was held at Walt Disney Concert Hall on September 22, 2012.  Since then the company has maintained a steady schedule of performances both in the United States and internationally. From the end of 2012 through 2013, L.A. Dance Project appeared at: University of California Davis’ Mondavi Center; Alexander Kasser Hall at Montclair State University, New Jersey; White Bird Dance in Portland, Oregon; and the Westobou Festival in Augusta, Georgia.

In 2013, L.A. Dance Project also performed at international venues including: Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris; Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London; Art Basel; The Holland Festival, Amsterdam; The Spoleto Festival; The Edinburgh International Festival; La Maison de la Danse in Lyon, France; and Is Sanat, Istanbul, Turkey.  L.A. Dance Project collaborated with The Industry on the much-acclaimed world premiere of the site specific opera Invisible Cities at Union Station.

In 2014, in addition to its Los Angeles performances, L.A. Dance Project performs in New York (Brooklyn Academy of Music), Paris, the Dance Biennial in Lyon and the Golden Mask Festival Moscow. The company is also touring major cities in China, Japan and Korea.
