The much anticipated matchup between the red hot LA Galaxy vs the NY City was played at the stub hub center on August 23rd.  In what was supposed to be a marque star studded affair turned to a blowout for the home Galaxy.  It was 0-0 late in the first half when Robbie Keane sent a cross for Zardes, who headed it past goalie Joe Saunders off a quick restart after a foul.  As the game went on, LA opened it up and got 2 goals from Keane and one each from Giovani Dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget.  NY played without Frank Lampard, who sat out with a groin injury.  David villa was held at bay except scoring on a penalty shot and Pirlo showed some great dribbling and passing skills all for not.

The Galaxy are gelling having great confidence and chemistry as the season draws near the playoffs. They now have the most points in the MLS and are looking like the team to beat.  Their defense is so solid with Omar Gonzalez and Leonardo plugging up the middle,  AJ Delagarza blocking and stopping and any close calls, Robbie Rogers making some nice runs and passes from the left back and Juninho and Gerrard controlling the midfield.  Goalie Donovan rickets has looked very sharp after rejoining the team while coach Bruce Arena has blended the team fantastically after gym Chris Klein helped bring in all the right pieces and position players.   Photos by Peter Glowski.    More at www.lagalaxy.com
