LA Clippers ruin Paul George’s return with big win over the Philadelphia 76’ers at the Intuit Dome- Nov 2024
This was a homecoming for Paul George with his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers visiting LA Clippers. George, was booed extensively through the night, especially by the wall every time you touch the ball. He left the clippers after five seasons and signed as a free agent with Philadelphia. The Sixers were missing Joel Embiid, who was suspended for pushing a reporter?
The Clippers came into the game 3-4 but Norman Powell led a balanced attack with 26 pts & 6 assists as LA pulled away in the fourth for the victory. James Harden 18 pts and Zubac 15 pts and 9 rebounds also had good games, but it was the team effort and great defense that helped them to this 110-98 victory. Derrick Jones Jr had 14 points and Amir Coffey had 11 points.
George went seven for nine and shooting but had four turnovers, which was his achilles heel this game & for many seasons with the Clippers despite how great of a player he is. Philadelphia also lost star point guard Tyrese Maxey in the second quarter with a hamstring injury and after that they fell apart.
Powell has been the star of the team so far for the Clippers averaging over 26 points a game and Zubac has been averaging a triple double. James Harden has been their key point guard, being second in league assists per game and coming up with some big plays but he needs to decrease his turnovers and shoot a bit better field goal percentage to give the team better chances especially vs better teams. The Clippers are still waiting for Kawhi Leonard to come back from his knee injury which will be a huge boost to the squad. Ty Lue and his staff deserve a lot of credit for keeping the team competitive with all their changes from the players last year plus Leonard not being able to play yet. This team doesn’t have the scoring power but better defense.
