Drago Centro – Downtown Los Angeles offers up great Italian Cuisine- March 2026

Drago Centro is one of those places that instantly makes you feel like you’re in for something special. Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, it offers a refined and modern take on Italian cuisine while staying deeply rooted in Sicilian traditions. Under the direction of Celestino Drago, the restaurant strikes a beautiful balance between elegance and authenticity.

What truly elevated the experience for me was the impeccable service—especially from Jaimie, who made the evening not only seamless but genuinely educational. Every recommendation came with thoughtful insight, which made the meal feel even more curated and personal.

We started with cocktails, and they set the tone perfectly. The Smokey Oaxacano was unforgettable—rich, layered, and literally finished with a touch of smoke that made every sip feel like an experience. The combination of mezcal, chili, and chocolate created something bold yet beautifully balanced. The Venezia, on the other hand, was light, refreshing, and elegant, with subtle peach and citrus notes lifted by the prosecco rosé—perfectly crisp and easy to enjoy.

For appetizers, each dish brought something unique to the table. The Polpo e Cuscus Trapanese was excellent—the octopus was tender and flavorful, paired with a delicate seafood couscous and a smooth roasted onion purée that tied everything together. The Carpaccio di Pesce Spada was incredibly fresh and vibrant, with thin slices of smoked swordfish complemented by bright orange segments, fennel, and a light lemon vinaigrette. And the Insalata di Carciofini e Arugula was a standout for its simplicity—raw baby artichokes, peppery arugula, crunchy walnuts, and shaved parmesan created a perfectly balanced and refreshing dish.

For the main courses, every plate felt thoughtfully crafted. The Pappardelle al Sugo di Fagiano e Morelle was rich and comforting, with tender roasted pheasant and earthy morel mushrooms coating the pasta beautifully. The Filetto di Spigola al Cartoccio was delicate and aromatic—the sea bass cooked in papillote with lemon, olive oil, and white wine, resulting in a light, flaky, and incredibly flavorful dish.

We also explored some vegetarian options, and they were just as impressive. The Spaghettone Fresco with pomodoro and burrata was simple yet indulgent, with the creamy burrata melting perfectly into the fresh tomato sauce. The Spaghetti Chitarra con Pesto alla Trapanese offered a slightly nuttier, more textured flavor profile with its tomato and almond pesto—both dishes were absolutely delicious.  Don’t miss the authentic liguini and clams- just delicious.

To finish, dessert did not disappoint. The tiramisu was classic and comforting, with perfectly soaked ladyfingers and a smooth mascarpone cream layered with espresso. The panna cotta was lighter and more playful—silky vanilla cream paired with grilled peaches, coconut meringue, and a refreshing mango sorbet that added a beautiful contrast.

If you haven’t been to Drago Centro, it’s truly worth experiencing. Between the stunning location, the depth and variety of the menu, and the exceptional service, it’s a place that delivers on every level. It’s not just a meal—it’s a full experience, and one that stays with you long after you leave.
