Perched along the dramatic cliffs of the Pacific at Bashi, the evening begins with one of the most breathtaking dining atmospheres in Southern California. Sweeping ocean views, a calming coastal breeze, and a warm, modern Asian-inspired design create a setting that feels both elevated and effortlessly inviting—especially as the sun dips into the horizon.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Katie, the manager, whose genuine friendliness and polished hospitality immediately set the tone. Her presence added a personal, attentive touch that carried throughout the entire evening.
Our server, Timothy, was exceptional—bringing not only attentiveness but real knowledge and intuition. His thoughtful recommendations and understanding of the menu helped guide us through a perfectly curated dining experience.
We started with the sushi menu, and it did not disappoint. The California Blossom Roll is a refined and indulgent take on a classic—featuring real crab, avocado, and cucumber, topped with seared salmon, and finished with spicy mayo, a rich sesame dressing, and crispy garlic chili oil. The combination creates a layered bite that’s creamy, slightly smoky, and subtly spicy with just the right crunch.
The Madi Roll truly stood out as a beautifully balanced, chef-driven creation—featuring yellowtail and sea bream, layered with negi (scallion), shiso leaf, and ume (Japanese plum). The result is bright, slightly herbal, and delicately tangy, with a clean finish that highlights the freshness and precision of the fish.
We followed with the yellowtail carpaccio, which was incredibly fresh—thinly sliced hamachi dressed in yuzu, ponzu, and light chili, allowing the natural flavor of the fish to shine with bright citrus notes. The tuna toro selections were equally impressive—rich, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth, clearly showcasing premium cuts and top-tier sourcing.
For the main course, the kitchen continued to impress across the board. The crispy seabass was perfectly executed with a golden, delicate crust and flaky interior. The lobster fried rice with kimchi brought bold, savory depth with a subtle fermented kick. The garlic noodles with shrimp were rich, aromatic, and satisfying, while the green Thai curry with Japanese eggplant, sprouts, and shrimp offered warmth, spice, and balance.
A must-order side is the green beans, wok-tossed with garlic, ginger, soy, and a touch of chili—simple in concept but elevated in execution. The menu also offers a wide range of other enticing options, making it easy to explore something new each visit.
To finish, don’t miss the whiskey bread pudding—decadent, rich, and the perfect sweet ending. Pair it with one of their signature cocktails, especially the playful “Jungle Cat,” served in a unique cat-shaped vessel that adds a fun and memorable flair to the evening.
