Gipsy Kings at The Greek

The Greek Theatre offered a perfect venue for the Gipsy Kings on a beautiful evening.  The Gypsy Kings have stood the test of time from their days travelling as Gypsies under the band name Los Reyes, (when they used to play at weddings, festivals and on the streets), to the world renown group that performs in Spanish with an Andalucía accent.  The band consists of two related families, the Reyes and the Baliardos, and the family bond and friendships are evident on stage.  The precision of the guitars, vocals, drums comes off as united for that very reason.

Their performance at The Greek got fans out of their seats dancing and singing along passionately to their favorite songs.  There is an incredible following and fan base in Los Angeles that always welcomes the Gipsy Kings.  Their music is slightly infused with Moroccan and Algerian flare attracting a large Armenian presence.  Although they are known for bringing Rumba Catalana (Rumba Flamenca style)  to worldwide audiences, their music has been described as a place where “Spanish flamenco and Romani rhapsody meet salsa funk.”  You can see more about this fantastic group that has toured for so long at www.gipsykings.com
