Traveling to Costa Rica- Where to stay and what to do- September 2022

Written & Photos by Lisa Rosas
Traveling through Costa Rica on the Southside we stayed at Hacienda Baru. The lush lands, jungle zip lining, bungalows in nature made the spot a beautiful landing.  The food was delicious. We had chicken curry, pork, rice and beans, seasoned potatoes, and an excellent tropical fruit salad. Breakfast had a variety of smoothies consisting of tropical fruits: such as papaya, pineapple, watermelon and more.
The zip lining tour included eight zip lines through the jungle walking distance from our room at the hotel. There were also a few hikes: one goes straight down to the beach in over an hour and the other is behind the hotel. The dancing trees, flowers birds, monkeys, sloth bring this land its majestic qualities.  We strongly recommend this hotel for anyone going to Osa Penninsula and wanting a perfect stop.

We arrived at Playa Cavito by boat to this magical location.
This is in the Osa Peninsula and an Eco Lodge filled with many gems. There are paddle boards, kyacs and snorkeling at no extra cost. There is daily yoga on a deck overlooking the bay and surrounded by trees.
There are several hikes through the rainforest you can do day or night. One leads to a waterfall.
Here we did a blue clay treatment to detoxify our skin.
There is happy hour daily from 5 to 6 in an open bar that serves 2 for 1 drinks of fresh juices, cocktails and wine.
The 18 room lodge is perfect for a romantic or family get away.
The room and bathroom are spacious and luxury. You receive a free homemade treat daily along with fresh made juice.
There are robes and slippers for your comfort. The immense wood balcony overlooks the bay and trees. The rain in this season is very meditative and relaxing.
The spa has many treatments to choose from.
We received an Aromatherapy massage and a hydrating facial.
if you like to see amphibians  we recommend the night hike that can be guided or on your own. We were lucky to see many whales and dolphins on this boat tour. Don’t miss the sunset from the dock where you can also snorkel. There is a whole activity book with so many great things to choose from. There is birdwatching, guided hikes, night kayaking to see the iridescent lights light up from the fish and of course the National Park..
The food is incredible and very fresh from homemade banana bread, superb coffee straight from Costa Rica, healthy juices, a detox juice, several flavors of daiquiris to choose from including avocado, and fresh lunch and dinner ingredients straight from the farm here where the menu changes daily. The farm is an easy walk and worth checking out from fresh coconuts, chickens to feed, and tons of urban vegetable garden to explore the mini fresh ingredients grown at the spectacular lodge.
The Mongrove kayak tour was our favorite. We took a boat out to the water jungle and one through the many paths. We saw snakes,  crocodiles, lots of birds, and more. We highly recommend this. The downpour of rain  made it even more exciting
