Meizhou Dongpo in Century City

 

Looking for a new spectacular authentic Chinese restaurant on the westside of LA?  Meizhou Dongpo has recently opened at the Westfield Shopping Mall in Century City near the AMC theaters.  They haven’t officially had a grand opening yet as they are working out their kinks during this soft opening time period.  However, we had a great dining experience with some incredible dishes. Our favorites were the sauteed shrimp with scallions- pictured above and the duck -pictured below, that is carved and served tableside by one of their Chinese Chefs and accompanied by thin pancakes, plum sauce and strips of bok choy and cucumber. It was very tender and delicious.

 

The Kung Pao Chicken with peanuts was fabulous along with the stir-fried shrimp with scallions.  We also had some dumplings and garlic chicken wings as appetizers. Do not miss the spicy eggplant and fried rice as side dishes.  They have a great variety of dishes from seafood, meats, chicken and vegetables along with dan dan noodles. 

   

The atmosphere is very chic and modern with beautiful blue lights and interesting decor including a huge brush chandelier that doesn’t project any light but looks fantastic.  The kitchen is open to see all the chefs hard at work. 

 

The service was very good and the staff was super hospitable.  Meizhou Dongpo is extremely popular in China, which is why it has been very crowded with Asian customers early on and now getting more popular with all other people. They serve beer, wine, sake and a couple of soju drinks (similar to vodka). I suggest their pomegranate soju specialty cocktail.
