Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamamı awesome Turkish Bath in Istanbul- August 2024

I didn’t know what to expect when I visited the Hamon Turkish Bath “Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamamı”.

I was greeted by the friendly staff who gave me a cold towel and some hibiscus juice before taking me upstairs to my cabin to change into my towel. I walked down to the bath area as there were other men there getting a bath as well. Women do their baths in the earlier part of the day. I was instructed to sit down next to the sink while the Turkish male staff doused me with some warm water.  He then took me to a middle area where I rested for about 20 minutes on flat tile which is very relaxing.  Then it was back to the area where the sink was.  After another wash with the hot water, he poured soap bath bubbles all over me and repeated it.  It was super unique, and I felt like a human car wash.  I was then washed off again with a deep scrub by special hand scrubbers he used all over my body. This is repeated a few times during the bath.  Lastly, the staff also provided a massage on parts of my body as I requested my legs and feet, which I needed badly after walking many miles earlier that day.

He dried me off and took me to the main lobby room where I rested on a sofa with no time restriction.   The whole experience runs between about an hour and a half or more depending on how long you want to rest.
