LA Clippers defeat the Memphis Grizzlies at the Intuit Dome with Ja Morant sitting out- Feb. 2025

The Los Angeles Clippers faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Intuit Dome on February 12, 2025, with the Grizzlies coming into the game sitting at the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference. Despite the absence of star guard Ja Morant due to a knee injury, Memphis made an early statement, getting off to a hot start. Desmond Bane exploded for 16 points in the first quarter, helping the Grizzlies build an early lead. All star Jaren Jackson was limited to 13 points which was an average game for him and ex Clipper Luke Kennard played well scoring 12 points.

The game remained tight for most of the contest, with both teams exchanging blows. However, Memphis showed signs of fatigue as the game wore on, having played the second leg of a back-to-back. In the third quarter, the Clippers capitalized on this, gradually pulling away as they wore down the Grizzlies, eventually securing a 128-114 victory.

Player Performances:

  • James Harden (Clippers): Harden had a solid outing with 18 points, 8 assists, and 10 rebounds, contributing in every facet of the game.
  • Kawhi Leonard (Clippers): Leonard led the Clippers with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, continuing his excellent form.
  • Norman Powell (Clippers): Powell, who started the game, provided a much-needed spark with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, playing a key role in the Clippers’ comeback.
  • Ivica Zubac (Clippers): Zubac was dominant in the paint, posting a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
  • Amir Coffey added 15 points off the bench to add some scoring punch
  • Bojan Bogdanović (Clippers): Making his debut for the Clippers, Bogdanović scored 7 points in 18 minutes of play, adding depth to the team’s rotation.
  • Ben Simmons (Clippers): Simmons did not play in this game, as he continues to integrate into the team.

The Clippers’ victory pushed them further up the standings, while Memphis, despite the loss, remains a top contender in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies, now without Morant for a longer stretch, will need to find a way to stay competitive in the absence of their star player.
