YATAI BAR: REVIEW

From the moment you walk into the Yatai Bar and Restaurant you are quickly greeted by two welcoming factors: the intoxicating smell of the delicious cuisine and the friendly staff that works there.

The small plates of Asian style tapas fusion dishes inspired by Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean and Indonesian cuisine is whimsical in appearance and also quite tasty!

Start off the experience with a Ginger Soda Soju or Tsunami Soju Cocktail, made from the Korean vodka equivalent mixed with fresh ginger, chamomile and club soda – a refreshing drink that gets the palette ready for what’s to come next. Or try one of their homemade sake/soju specialty drinks, beer cocktails or red/white wine selections.

The few popular starters we suggest are the Baby Spinach salad with soy dressing; Green Papaya with a multitude of zesty flavors, not to spicy but just right and served with a with sweet oriental dressing; and the crispy tender Calamari. Next, try some of their delicious sushi and sashimi or the spicy tuna tar tar on a crispy won ton. There is an assortment of other tapas such as lettuce cups with chicken, soups and tempura dishes with selections like: Spicy Shrimp Satay, Stuffed Shitake Mushrooms, and Assorted vegetable tempura.

Other tasty tapas include crispy shrimp toast; Thai style chicken with green curry; grilled teriyaki salmon, whole squid and baked black cod. A side of Udon noodles goes great with any of the above.

For the final presentation, warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and peach sorbet were the perfect end to this flavorful trip around Asia!

A very comfortable setting with a big screen TV on the patio for special occasions, Yatai is conveniently located at 8535 Sunset Blvd. (just west of La Cienega) and there is plenty of street/lot parking.
