Los Angeles, CA – Music legends George and Ira Gershwin’s songs are more popular

today than they were years ago.  Many music stars have recorded tribute cd’s to the

brothers, but never before has a Gershwin recorded Gershwin, UNTIL NOW!

Alexis Gershwin, the niece of George and Ira Gershwin has recorded a cd full of her

uncle’s greatest songs.  The cd is called GERSHWIN SINGS GERSHWIN.

Alexis Gershwin, is the daughter of George and Ira’s only sister Frances Gershwin.  She

grew up in Connecticut, and moved to Los Angeles.  Alexis Gershwin has 2 sons who are

both in show business.

Alexis, has an incredible career traveling and singing in some of the hottest venues in the

country.  For the first time Alexis has recorded a tribute cd to her uncles.

Gershwin, brings a fresh new approach to her uncles songs while keeping true to their

timeless classics.  When asked what prompted her to record her uncles music she said “

For years people  have asked me when are you going record your uncle’s songs?   I

would always say when its time I will know it.”

Eight months ago, Gershwin went into legendary Capitol Records recording studios

and teamed up with acclaimed music director/ producer Stephen Applegate, who has

produced such stars as Shirley Jones, Lorna Luft, Maureen McGovern to name a few.

The outcome of Alexis  CD turns  out to be an incredible homage to her uncles.

Gershwin say’s “ I am so excited about this cd!  I feel I  have a very special grasp  for

Ira’s  lyrics because after all it is  in my  genes.  I understand the soul of the songs and

can perform them in a way no one else  can.  In addition, Gershwin says “ When I am

performing their music, its spooky sometimes I feel Ira on one side of me and George on

the other.”

George and Ira Gershwin’s genius was they created music and songs that are timeless.

Alexis, remembers the stories about the Legendary A-list private parties which Ira would

host.  In the 70’s every week Alexis would have dinner with Ira at his home.

Proudly she say’s “Ira enjoyed life from his favorite chair.  I was actually able to get him

on the tennis court when no else could, and it turns out he was a good player.”

Alexis, has some personal memorabilia of her famous uncles that she keeps near and dear

which  inspires her daily.  George Gershwin loved to draw and sketch.  One day he drew

and signed a sketch  of his mother, which Alexis owns.   In addition, she has a cupid

statue owned by Ira Gershwin.

Alexis Gershwin’s cd consists of 12 classic songs, she says her all time favorite Gershwin

song is “Someone To Watch Over Me” which is her signature theme song.

George Gershwin was in love with Paulette Goddard, who at the time  was

married to Charlie Chaplin.  Alexis says” I often wonder if he was thinking about her

when he wrote this beautiful melody”,

Alexis Gershwin, tours the nation doing her GERSHWIN SINGS GERSHWIN concerts

in front of young and old audiences.  The concerts consist of 21 of Gershwin’s greatest

hits nightly with the Gershwin Singers and Orchestra.

Alexis concert Tour for 2010 is already filling up, The Harry James Tribute Orchestra along with the Gershwin Singers  will be performing with Alexis on her upcoming concert tour.

Former Billboard Magazine editor Paul Grein who currently writes the weekly music

charts for yahoo.com says “Alexis manages to bring something fresh and new to her

uncles music, she sings with  ebullience, charm, combining a jazz singers penchant for

idiosyncratic phrasing, an actresses flair for the dramatic and a comediennes comic

sensibility, no small feat for songs that have been recorded hundreds of times.

This cd is a winner.  A loving tribute to George and Ira Gershwin, like no one else could
