“Burn the Floor” Touring Dance Performance is a Definite Must See! – December 1st, 2002

If you like dance performances, "Burn the Floor" is in my opinion the best all around show you will ever get a chance to see. They just finished a West Coast Tour after going through Japan and Las Vegas.

They will be touring around the U.S. and Canada after the New Year. You can visit their great website at www.burnthefloor.com to check the schedules and find out more information about this great dance company.

This exhilarating, energetic cast of dancers features couples from around Europe including Spain, Norway, England, Russia and Sweeden to name a few. There are also many couples from Austrailia which is where Producer (Harley Medcalf) and Artistic Director/Choreographer (Jason Gilkison) started the show and where they are from. From Fluid Ballroom dances such as the Waltz, Tango, Cha Cha, and Fox Trot, to higher energy Mambos, Jitterbug and Swing, this show has it all.

The atmosphere changes regularly depending on the dances. The lighting is spectacular along with the great music. The show starts with some slower, beautiful dance routines, then moves into some Waltz and Latin dance. There are then about six great high energy Jitterbug/Swing numbers that are fabulous and include some incredible costumes. Next is Intermission before resuming with the reprise of (Sing, Sing, Sing) to swing to. From there, the dancers collaborate with some awesome displays of styles and dances that keep you on the edge of your seat and finally out of breath.

This show is a must when it comes to your area. With an array of the best World Champion dancers from all over; The Enchanting Costumes, Lighting(by Colin Dwyer) and atmosphere; Excellent Background Music(by Charlie Hull) for all the dances including some great singing(Angela Teek from the U.S.) was the featured singer on the latest tour. Her rendition of "Light my Fire" is astounding with one of the outstanding dance couples incorporating some incredible ballroom moves beside her. The show ends with "So Hot" which is the most energetic song/ dance of the entire show and "Would you…?" as in Would you dance with me, the same song at the start of the show with the full dance troup on stage.

I have seen and covered hundreds of performances and this one is at the Top of the list. www.burnthefloor.com!
