“Mimosa” French Bistro- Great Food and Paris Atmosphere (8/05)

This quaint place serves some classic French favorites while having a feeling like you are dining at a bistro in France.  Black and White pictures and paintings with many mirrors are situated to decorate the cozy Bistro.  You start with some small pickles and juicy olives.  Suggest a booth with comfortable pillows from the courteous hostess.  I recommend the La Tarte Flambee Alsacienne (which is a thin crust pizza style dish with Farmer Cheese, Onions and with or without Pancetta).   Fabulous appetizers from the famous French Onion Soup; Steamed tender Mussels with Shallots and White Wine; and the delicious Tomato Tart with sun-dried Tomatoes cooked to perfection with Basil.

The Main Course choices range from the Popular "Macaroni & Cheese Gratin (don’t let the name fool you as this is one of their signature dishes. It is prepared lightly with cheese unlike the usual American Style and enhanced by the smoked flavor of the prosciutto); Braises Pork; Roasted Chicken with Rosemary and Garlic; and Filet of Sole.  The most popular entrees on the menu are the numerous Steaks prepared different ways and the  Bouillabaisse with lots of fish in the tasty broth soup (only served Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).

There is also a 3 Course Prix Fix Menu to choose from along with a daily special.  Make sure to choose some nice wine to accompany your meal from their wine list or one of their specialty drinks (as the bar is limited).  After dinner, choose from some of their exotic cheeses to help digest your dinner before indulging into one of the creative desserts such as the rich & moist Chocolate Mousse; The Pear Tart Pasty; and the Floating Island- sort of a meringue cake very light and mouth watering.  Some nice dessert wines are also available on the menu.
