“The Neville Brothers” and “The Meters” Entertain the Hollywood Bowl on (8/16/06)

August 16, 06 was a night to remember at the Beautiful Hollywood Bowl. An incredible night with

fabulous weather had the incomparable Neville Brothers opening up for the Meters.  The Neville

Brothers, led by Aaron, played some of their popular tunes mixing in famed hometown New Orleans Mardi

Gras music such as "Can’t Stop the Funk". They also played some covers such as "Aint No Sunshine", "Foxy Lady", "Use Me", "Fever",

"Tamborine", "Tell It".  They missed Jazz fest this year and rumors of Aaron’s health and breathing

circulated to the reason why but this band is a true classic and worth every penny.

The Meters 4 piece band led by Brother Art Neville were around 30 years ago but they have only

played a handful of times that last decade together.  They started with some mellow blues tunes

but many of their fans were in attendance.  When the group played a bit of traditional New

Orleans upbeat music, they invited the crowd to get up and dance.  After that, many fans got up

and many others marched towards the stage with fancy umbrellas like we were back in New Orleans.

Both bands made tributes to the Hurricane Relief Fund and are huge in helping out the situation there.
