Sensational Singer “Al Green” at the Hollywood Bowl (8/2/06)

-It was a beautiful night , perfect for a picnic at the bowl. The Wednesday night Jazz Series featured Al Green with opening acts Lizz Wright (sultry, fresh take on jazz) and Lalah Hathaway (smokey voiced singing R & B and smooth jazz).
-The audience joined in singing along with old gospel songs through a sort of history of music that inspired the music of AL Green. His energy and spirit brought out the best in the show and sold out crowd.  He is full of spirit and life!  The audience enjoyed a great night of his popular songs as well as covers he sang of other popular artists. He sang many familiar songs including "Let’s Stay Together" and ending with "Love and Happiness".
-By the end everyone was having a great time singing and dancing in the aisles.
Also, his daughter was one of the back up singers. (He referred to her being a new rap star.)
-There was a great band to accompany the singing while he made jokes about being in everyone’s house and eventually in their bedroom.
-He called himself Reverend AL Green which he is well known for.
