The Savannah Steak & Chop House in Laguna Niguel, Ca. offers a great variety of fine dining selections with an incredible, warm atmosphere. The service was exceptional including the manager, server and host. We sat in one of the plush red booths that are so cozy and inviting. Warm bread was delivered right away as we contemplated which dishes to choose from.
We started with the special grilled artichoke, crispy calamari and shrimp scampi. All 3 were delicious. Other selections on the menu included chilled seafood from shrimp, oysters, crab legs and Ahi tuna tartare. They also have salads from endive, spinach, and caesar to choose from. Next was the main course.
The menu has quite a few great dishes and preparations such as braised boneless short ribs; filet mignon stroganoff; rosemary rack of lamb, double cut pork chops and all American meatloaf. Other specialties are the seafood entrees. Louisiana gumbo, cedar planked salmon, and roasted seabass were eye popping. The Alaskan King Crab legs are a definite must if you are a fan. I would highly suggest one of the meats since it is steakhouse. From Ribeye; New York; Flatiron; Filet; Prime Rib; or even Kobe ribeye; you cannot go wrong. If you can’t decide, go for the surf and turf. Side dishes such as steamed asparagus, creamed spinach, green beans, creamed corn and jalapeño-cheddar potatoes are all great and they serve 2 people each. Round out your meal with one of their delicious desserts. Chocolate souffle cake with vanilla bean ice cream, southern pecan pie and the warm sour cherry and peach crisp were highly recommended.
An extensive Wine list (Voted one of the most outstanding wine lists in the world by Wine Spector Magazine in 2003), live music in the lounge 7 nights a week and 2 patios (indoor and outdoor), this establishment makes for a great dinner and place to come to watch the beautiful sunsets as it overlooks the ocean.
