WHAT: The second annual "Los Angeles, Italia” Film Festival celebrating
Italian cinema, art and fashion in America kicks-off this Sunday,
February 18, 2007 with a special screening of “I Only Wanted to Live”
(“Volevo Solo Vivere”), presented by Steven Spielberg and The Shoah
Foundation, directed by Mimmo Calopresti.  The week-long event includes
special screenings, conferences, performances, exhibits featuring
award-winning costumes, food tastings for regional cuisine at the
Italian VIP Lounge, and award ceremonies for "Friends of the Italian
Arts.”

WHO:  Screenwriter and director Bobby Moresco—Oscar®-winner for
co-writing Paul Haggis’ "Crash"—serves as the 2007 Honorary Chairman
and will introduce over 35 current and classic Italian films.  There
will also be a special homage in honor of Ennio Morricone’s 2007
Honorary Academy Award® for Lifetime Achievement, including screenings
of his Oscar®-nominated films.  Oscar®- winner and 2007
Oscar®-nominated costume designer Milena Canonero ("Marie Antoinette")
will also be honored.

Celebrities slated for attendance throughout the week include: Bobby
Moresco, Ennio Morricone, Milena Canonero, legendary director Mario
Monicelli, Vanessa Redgrave, Rinko Kikuchi, Miranda Richardson, Monica
Cruz (Penelope’s sister), Gina Gershon, Dolph Lundgren, Mathew Modine,
Norman Jewison, John Landis, Paul Mazursky, Lawrence Bender, Avi
Lerner, Andrea Morricone (composer and son of Ennio), Italian actors
Franco Nero, Riccardo Scamarcio, Claudia Gerini, Raoul Bova and rock
star Vasco Rossi.

Other events happening in conjunction with the festival that honor
Italian culture include: the AFI Gran Gala tribute to Italian-American
Jack Valenti on Thursday, February 22, and the Armani Fashion Show on
Saturday, February, 24.

The festival is produced by the Capri in the World Institute, with the
support of the Italian Ministry of Culture’s Film Department, in
collaboration with the Casinò di Venezia, the Sangemini Group, the
National Italian American Foundation, the USC School of Cinematic Arts,
the Cim Group and the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles. 
Festival founder Pascal Vicedomini’s esteemed Honorary Board features
award-winning directors Norman Jewison, Paul Haggis and John Landis,
producer Lawrence Bender and former MPAA president Jack Valenti, to
name a few.

Parking Info: Parking is available in the garage under the new
Hollywood & Highland Center for $2 with validation. There are also paid
lots south of Hollywood Blvd (and east of Orange), with rates ranging
from $2 to $6, and there is a paid parking lot on the west side of
Highland, just south of Hollywood Boulevard (with a maximum charge of
$5.) There is also a lot behind the Hollywood Galaxy complex (a block
west) which charges only $2. (Prices not guaranteed and subject to
change.)
