Fords Filling Station- This extremely popular downtown Culver City restaurant is an

all around hit. Owned by Ben Ford this place is in high demand. The crowd is very

hip, lively and energetic. It’s probably not your best bet for a quiet romantic

evening, but a great place to come with a group, share some dishes and enjoy the

crowd. There is a lot of hype because the owner, Ben Ford is the son of Harrison

Ford but this place stands on its own. Reservations are highly suggested as the

space is limited and gets packed. There are two rooms, one over looking the open

kitchen and an outdoor heated patio. The wait staff is very helpful and friendly.

Our server Joshua was incredibly informative and knowledgeable about the menu.

There are basically 2 sides to the menu. The left side consists of many different

types of cured meats and salamis. The right side are the starters, flatbreads and

entrees. The options are definitely very creative, unique and unlike any other

place around. The food is delicious and freshly prepared.

We recommend the Buratta Cheese, asparagus salad with or without prosciutto and

walnut vinaigrette. The cheese melts in your mouth! The east coast style fried

Ipswich clams are a must if you like shellfish as they are different from the clams

we get out here in LA. There are a few flatbread pizza-like specialties from the

huge wood burning oven in the open kitchen. Choices ranged from the 4 cheese

tomato; roasted red peppers/mushrooms and mozzarella; and my personal favorite, the

white shrimp with arugula and white bean hummus on rosemary flatbread. I’m

getting

hungry just thinking about that tasty dish.

There is a wide variety of entrees from seafood selections such as brook trout,

glazed monkfish, fish & chips and one of their house signature dishes- the seared

diver scallops- to crispy flattened chicken, pork porterhouse, vegetarian polenta

cake with mixed mushrooms and the tender Kobe beef cheeks which I had over wheat

pasta like risotto. There are always specials of the day so make sure to ask. That

night it was Cioppino (seafood stew) which was divine and quite spicy.

End your meal with their chocolate bon bon or pear buckle dessert with an after

dinner drink. They have a nice wine list and full bar.

This is the place to be in Culver City so head over to have a great time. Address
