Many people may not know about Tamarack Idaho, but it will get more popular in the years to come. The resort is about a two and a half hour drive from the Boise Airport. There is hope of commercial flights into McCall Airport (approximately 30 minutes drive to Tamarack). New construction is underway with the Fairmont Tamarack condos being developed by retired tennis stars Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf & some real estate partners. We stayed at the "Lodge." This place is very upscale with beautiful rooms and great amenities. Some include a great full Spa, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a fantastic workout gym, huge coed jacuzzi and a big heated pool. There is a wonderful restaurant called Morels that is a must! Condo releases start March 17th. For more information about these condo units and the project contact real estate sales specialists Geof Hopf at 208-325-1466 or Tahnee Land at 208-325-1062. They are very knowledgeable and can help you with any of your questions on this development. This is a first class operation run by great people.

This all around/all season resort has plenty to offer. There are just about all sports and activities at this destination getaway. Our experience on the ski mountain was very gratifying. There are three main lifts with a variety of terrain for all levels of skiers. There are many groomed trails and great runs. Our personal favorite is a run called "Bliss". This 3.2 mile gorgeous run off the top of the summit lift is sheer bliss! One day we were fortunate enough to ski with club director, Tim Wolfgram and his wife Sherri Harkin who showed us some great back country skiing.

Another adventure which can be organized for $200/person for the day is Cat Skiing. This consists of skiing untouched virgin powder (best after a fresh snow fall). You are taken to an out of boundaries location in a big Snow Cat to experience a rare feeling of powder skiing. Make sure to rent or use a wide pair of skis for this extreme adventure so you can turn better. Dave Williams is in charge of this department at the resort. He also can arrange snowmobiling tours but they are not as organized with this adventure. Both of these activities are based on stipulations and weather conditions so be prepared.

The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Everyone is so down to earth. They make you feel right at home. Tamarack is very conducive to the quieter lifestyle and is very family oriented. A new village will be built by 2008 with restaurants, shops, and a club which will definitely help the nightlife. A mid mountain restaurant is projected to be ready as well next year. Two more ski lifts are in the works to enhance the skiing availability. Tamarack is bit out of the way to get to but on the plus side there are no lift lines and it is not overpopulated on the trails. There is a cool terrain park for skiers and especially snowboarders with jumps and ramps for tricks and flips for the more adventuresome.
