Huey Lewis brings back 80’s music magic at Humphreys by the Bay in San Diego (8/07)

As if sitting under the stars enjoying the cool evening breeze off of the San Diego Bay in an intimate setting on a beautiful summer night were not enough, throw in Huey Lewis and the News taking us back in time with his hits, rocking us out and sounding just as good as ever. What a night!

It was Sunday, August 5, 2007 and Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay was the setting. This cozy outdoor amphitheatre nestled back about 5 miles off of interstate 5 is situated beside a marina on the San Diego Bay. It is conveniently located just a few miles from SeaWorld and holds seating for up to 1400 people. If you are lucky enough to score tickets to any concert at this venue, we recommend that you jump at the chance. Humphrey’s Concerts by The Bay makes you feel like you are in the artist’s backyard kicking back with a few friends listening to some tunes. Humphrey’s offers concessions and a bar and cocktail service right from your seat through out the concert.

If you are a fan of 80’s hit music who better to see than Huey Lewis and the News? With his Hallmark raspy voice, Huey sounds just as good as he did when he released his hits back in the late 80’s. The band mixed in a few less recognizable songs from their 2001 Plan B album, but nothing moved the crowd like taking us back  with their great hits including: “Back in Time”, Happy to be Stuck with You”, “Heart of Rock and Roll”,The Power of Love”, “Hip to be Square”, “I Want a New Drug”, “Do you Believe in Love”, “Working for a Living”, and some of  their incredible a capella renditions including “It’s Alright”. We were so excited listening to the music, at one point we even moved to the back and started dancing. It was that kind of a venue and that kind of a concert!
