TICKETS GOING, GOING … TO ‘ ART & WINE AUCTION’ HOSTED BY SANTA MONICA-UCLA MEDICAL CENTER AND ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL
Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital will host its inaugural “Art & Wine Auction” on Friday, Nov. 2, from 7 to 10 p.m., at The Victorian, 2640 Main Street in Santa Monica.
The event will feature both silent and live auctions of selected artwork and wine, as well as live jazz entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Jonathan Holiday will serve as auctioneer at the event.
Proceeds will benefit the hospital, which is currently rebuilding its medical campus to better serve the Westside community. In July, the hospital opened its state-of-the-art Nethercutt Emergency Center. Its new Maternity Center and Neonatal Intensive-Care Unit will open in December.
Among the artists whose work will be auctioned at the event is Guillermo Bert, whose museum-quality creations have been featured at the Museum of Latin American Art. Others whose work will be on display include artists Gus Harper and Elwood T. Risk, photographer Ryann Ford, sculptor Maddy Le Mel and emerging artists from the Los Angeles Art Association and Santa Monica Art Studios.
The selection of fine wines to be auctioned includes a 1990 Chateau Lafite Rothchild Bordeaux Blend, a 2004 Sterling Vineyards Three Palms Merlot and a 2003 Port from Heitz Wine Cellars.
Hospital board members Kevin Dretzka and Dominique Wirtschafter are co-chairs of the event.
