LA Kings destroy the Nashville Predators at the Staples Center 6-0 on October 23, 07

The Kings played their best game of the season destroying the Nashville Predators 6-0 at the Staples Center on October 23rd.   Jason LaBarbera (pictured below) was the player of the game stopping everything in sight and assistant captain Michael Cammalleri (pictured below) scored his league leading 9th and 10th goals of the season.  The Predators looked slow and out of the game early while the Kings took the offense after struggling earlier this season with scoring.  The Predators were shut out for the second time in a row.

Ladislov Nagy scored his first goal of the season and assisted on two others while Captain Rob Blake (pictured with defenseman & assistant captain Lubomir Visnovsky) had two first period assists. The Kings scored 2 goals in each period and this game got away from Nashville in a hurry.  Predators forward and veteran Jason Arnott was at a loss of words and said his team needed to do a lot of soul searching.  Nashville is coming off a good year last year as they made the playoffs before getting knocked out by the San Jose Sharks 4-1 in the first round. The Predators lost some key players from last year and didn’t resign free agent Peter Forsberg who went back to Sweden to play. Starting goalie Chris Mason was replaced by Dan Ellis after the Kings took a 4-0 lead in the second period.

This was a physical game with many fights including one in the stands. Both pictured below

The Kings have been semi struggling but this win gives them more confidence especially against their rival Dallas Stars team on October 25th.  The Kings have been dealing with mediocrity and trade rumors, which they would like to put behind them.  More at www.kings.nhl.com
