“Matchbox 20” first tour in 4 years with LA Staples Center show on March 16, 08 (Tickets and Info)

Matchbox Twenty's first tour in four years will reach Los Angeles on March 16th for a highly-anticipated STAPLES Center performance. Tickets for this show will go on sale Saturday, November 17 at 10 AM. Alanis Morissette and Mute Math will special guest. As Matchbox Twenty gets ready to hit the road, the band finds itself reaching greater heights than ever before. Last month, they released their first greatest hits compilation, Exile On Mainstream, which bowed at #3 on the Billboard Top 200. That matched the group's highest Billboard debut, 2000's Mad Season. The collection also sold over 130,000 copies in its first week, making it the biggest opening week for a best-of release this year. Exile On Mainstream collects all of Matchbox Twenty's major hits, including, "Push," "3am," and, "If You're Gone." But, Exile also sees Matchbox Twenty hitting a new stride. Originally, the band planned to add a new song to the record as a bonus for their fans. However, after a flurry of writing with all members contributing equally for the first time, the group emerged with an EP of all-new material. After the sessions, frontman Rob Thomas enthused, "We're all excited. It's a good place to be. We feel more like a band than we've ever felt." Exile's new tracks, including the single, "How Far We've Come," were produced by Grammy-winner Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band). Exile On Mainstream's release coincides with the tenth anniversary of Matchbox Twenty's 1997 breakthrough. Their debut, Yourself or Someone Like You, took off that fall, eventually selling over 10 million copies (putting the band in exclusive company with The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Eagles). In the ensuing decade, Matchbox Twenty has sold over 28 million albums worldwide, scored five Grammy nominations and nabbed more #1 hits at Adult Top 40 and Modern AC than any other artist in history.
