It was eleven o’clock at night when we finally made it at “The Hamlet” after our flight into Portland and approximately 90 minute drive to the Mount Hood River area.

Mastering the fading art of extreme hospitality, Paul and Diane were still up waiting to welcome us with warm homemade chocolate chip cookies!

A stunning scenic route from Portland will lead you to a heaven of peace in 90 minutes.

In 1994, Paul and Diane built a charming yet modern colonial house for the sole purpose of hosting a Bed & Breakfast, …with a VIEW.

Their attention to detail has been flawless, from the four beautifully finished homey rooms to a hot tub overlooking Mount Hood to more choices of complimentary tea and coffee one can imagine available 24/7.

The human interaction alone would suffice for success if one were to be lodged in their next-door barn. It transpires in Diane’s joyful pride to pamper you with all and any requests you might have and Paul’s devotion to spoil you with a gourmet breakfast fit for royalty.  Paul cooks up homemade and secret recipe breakfasts and caters to your diet.  If you are allergic or don’t eat something particular, let him know and he will accommodate.  We had some fabulous egg dishes, fresh breads & muffins, fruit and other delectable treats.  Coffee and juice are included as well.

We were on our own schedule with relaxing disconnect from the world, as we know it. High Speed Internet access availability will keep you grounded if so desired at the house.

Half priced ski tickets are available to the outdoor thrill seekers. A 25 minutes drive will get you to the Mt. Hood Meadows ski resort where you will enjoy their nice ski resort. Don’t worry; Diane has a parking pass for you, which is required at the resort lot. Remember, attention to detail is their pride.

On the upper floor, a guest refrigerator is accessible by the seating area. Each of the four large guest rooms has wide-plank oak floors, a private bath, two gorgeous robes and a TV with VCR/DVD player. All  rooms also have a fireplace. A great movie selection is on hand downstairs along with book gallery in the library.  The Mount Hamlet B & B is the best place to stay in Hood River. You get supreme service and are centrally located. Here is a view from Mount Hood Hamlet right before the sunrise.
