“Chakra” Fine Dining Indian Cuisine in Beverly Hills (2/08)

Chakra Creative Indian Cuisine takes over a tough location on Doheny next to the movie theater but has the food to back it up.  A calming water wall enhances Chakra’s beautiful setting. The atmosphere is mellow with Indian accents and music.  The dishes are made to order so be prepared to stay a while.  If you are in a hurry, this is not the place for you, as we had to wait approximately 30-40 minutes before and in between courses.  Starters include the popular simosas with potato, mushroom and corn; tandori salmon, spinach salad, pepper calamari and pomegranate shrimp to name a few.

Main course selections range from the out of this world jumbo prawns with onions in their homemade masala sauce, tender sea bass cooked to perfection and came with fresh vegetables, and the ever-popular chicken tandori breast meat that was worth the wait.

Don’t miss the garlic naan, basmati rice, and lentils with your entrée as they all make delicious accompaniments.  A wide variety of vegetarian entrees are available from the tasty saag paneer (creamed spinach with cheese chunks), tandori eggplant that was a bit spicy with garlic and cumin but very flavorful, and sautéed okra which is hard to find these days.

Director of Operations Armond Khosrovian is very professional and helpful to all the customers as is their full staff of servers.

Chakra is located at 151 S. Doheny Dr. in Beverly Hills, Ca.  90211.  More information at 310-246-3999 and www.chakracuisine.com
