The LA Clippers surprise the Utah Jazz at the Staples Center (2/08)

The Clippers outplayed the Utah Jazz at the Staples Center on February 22nd and won their second game in a row for only the second time this season.  The first place Jazz did not play well and were basically a two-man team with Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams scoring 22 and 26 points respectively.  The only other player that played well was backup center/forward Paul Millsap but the rest of the team looked out sync.  The Clippers were led by Corey Maggette and rookie Al Thornton who each scored 27 points.  Mobley, Kaman, and Dan Dickau also scored in double figures as LA was up by 20 points in the 4th quarter and the final score was not as close as the game (114-104).

This was a big upset as Utah had won 13 of its last 14 games but struggled on offense and went 0-13 on three point shots.  The first sell out crowd since opening night enjoyed the victory as the Clippers now get ready for the LA Lakers tonight with the Clippers owning the home court.  Sam Cassell is a game time decision after missing the Jazz game with a sore wrist.  The Clippers have another big game Monday night (February 25th) as they host the Boston Celtics who have the best record in the Eastern Conference and have Kevin Garnett back from injury. Only about 300 seats remain for that game at this time. More info at www.nba.com/clippers
