The Hyatt Regency in Acapulco is a Great Place to Stay on your next vacation there (3/08)

The Regency Hyatt in Acapulco boasts some of the best views of the Acapulco Bay.  This 640 room high rise is centrally located making it accessible to all the hot spots and night life that Acapulco has to offer.  Almost every room has a balcony over looking the most magnificent view of the Bay. The Hyatt is currently undergoing a complete renovation which will only make their already spacious rooms that much more luxurious. The staff here is friendly, helpful and ready to accommodate your needs.  Convenient valet parking makes your comings and goings easy. The 20th and 21st floors (Regency Club levels) offer a delicious and abundant continental breakfast each morning.  There are two large meandering pools with tons of lounge chairs for tanning or socializing.  The grounds are beautifully landscaped with palm trees and plant life.  The pools and the view are this hotel’s biggest selling points.

The hotel is right on the beach where you can relax or take advantage of all of the offsite water activities such as parasailing, water skiing, bungee jumping, and horseback riding.

Not far from the hotel are the Cathedral, the Fort of San Diego (Acapulco’s History Museum) and the incredible Cliff Divers Show about a half hour away. Do NOT miss the Cliff Divers!! These professional divers climb up a 45 meter cliff in bare feet and Speedos with no gear or net, then they dive into the most treacherous, narrow ravine while the waves come crashing around them.  The show is day and night with a final performance done without lights and with the divers holding torches. Incredible!

The food at the Hyatt is plentiful and delicious.  There are three restaurants within the hotel as well as a bar and lounge.  We enjoyed eating at El Pescador, the outdoor patio restaurant overlooking the pool and the bay.  Don’t miss out on their incredible Sunday brunch.  We had crepes and pizza from a wood burning oven, fresh fish (which we hand picked and watched as the chef prepared it), salads, desserts, cocktails, octopus, shrimp to name a few options from the abundant selection.  El Pescador serves the most delicious bread as well.  This delightful restaurant is open from 12:30pm-11:30pm for guests of the hotel as well as beach combers strolling by.  Another favorite of ours was the breakfast buffet at La Ceiba.  Waffles, pancakes, omelets, the most delicious pineapple, juices, fruits, anything you can imagine is here at this spectacular buffet open daily from 7-noon.  La Ceiba is also open for lunch from noon- 5pm.Hyatt Brunch Fish photo 1.JPG

One very unique aspect of the Hyatt Regency is that is has its very own beautiful Synagogue with stained glass windows and a Kosher restaurant.  During our stay we met one couple who drove 20 minutes every day from their hotel to eat at the El Isleno, Hyatt’s seasonal Kosher Restaurant which offers a diverse menu of popular Jewish dishes to fresh fish and other entrees. The Hyatt Regency also has a number of conference rooms for meetings, ideal for the business traveler.  Many weddings are celebrated on the beach at this incredible location as well. A wedding planning department is devoted to making your special day the most memorable one.

Alory Spa located in the basement of the Hyatt has a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and gym. They offer an assortment of treatments such as body treatments, massages, facials and skin care. They even have a full beauty salon providing from mani/pedis to hair cuts and coloring. Don’t let the humble setting of this spa fool you, we received the most excellent service and treatments from the staff. Raymondo at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and the therapists are excellent.   We recommend having one of their “wraps” where you are exfoliated, scrubbed, showered down, moisturized, massaged, wrapped up in warmth and pampered like you would not believe! Call +52 744 469 1234 or see the link to the spa from the Hyatt’s website. For more information on the Hyatt Regency Acapulco check out their website.
