DESERT SPRINGS, A JW MARRIOTT RESORT & SPA
  FACTS-AT-A-GLANCE

LOCATION    Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa is located in Palm Desert, California, in the heart of the Coachella Valley. The property is situated on dramatic desert terrain in one of California’s most desirable communities, surrounded by three majestic mountain ranges.
OVERVIEW    Situated on 450 acres of lushly landscaped grounds and lagoons, Desert Springs is a sprawling oasis offering a remarkable contrast to the stark beauty of the desert. The Four-Diamond, award-winning property opened in February 1987, and is one of the largest resort and convention complexes in the southwestern United States.  A $30 million renovation in 2007 introduced a new, 38,000 square-foot spa and a refurbished lobby with a new lobby bar and sushi bar.  Desert Springs’ guest rooms and suites are located in five-to-eight-story wings overlooking swimming pools, lakes, verdant fairways, lush English gardens, and manicured lawns.  From the moment guests enter the resort’s breathtaking atrium lobby, they begin a journey into a world of relaxed elegance, singular amenities, and exemplary service.
The resort’s famous Venetian-inspired waterways allow guests to board gondolas for transportation to dining or for afternoon tours past cascading waterfalls beneath the calls of exotic birds.

GUEST ROOMS
AND SUITES    Desert Springs features 884 deluxe accommodations including 51 suites, ranging from 900 square-foot hospitality suites to two 3,150 square-foot Chairman’s suites. Each spacious guest room includes a bathroom of granite, limestone, and Italian marble, with a separate tub and shower. All rooms also include a Sony CD player and alarm, private balcony, movies on demand, a safe, minibar, and a 37-inch HDTV in each room.

RECREATION    Free-time options abound, including two Ted Robinson-designed 18-hole championship golf courses; an 18-hole putting course; 20 tennis courts (15 hard, three clay, and two grass); a spa featuring a gym, exercise classes, beauty salon, and a spa shop; the Oasis Pool area with three swimming pools; basketball courts; lawn croquet; biking on e-bikes or traditional bikes; 13 restaurants and lounges; kids’ programs providing supervised activities for guests aged 4 to 12 years; child-sitting; and much more.
SPA    Part of a $40 million renovation, Spa Desert Springs is an expansive 38,000 square-foot facility with 48 treatment rooms, a salon, yoga studio, spa bistro, VIP suite, couples’ suite, fitness facilities, and heated outdoor lap pool.  The Spa’s extensive treatment menu gives special consideration to the healing ingredients and customs of the surrounding Sonoran Desert, utilizing locally harvested crops along with ancient healing traditions. The luxurious facility fully embraces the “spa together” concept. The 600 square-foot VIP suite is staffed by a personal butler and includes a private entrance, two-person hydrotherapy tub in a private courtyard, and another tub indoors.  Additionally, groups can enjoy the “spa within a spa:” a private wing with its own lounge, treatment rooms, and shower areas.

MEETING
FACILITIES     With 210,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting, exhibit, and banquet spaces, Desert Springs can comfortably accommodate groups of all sizes. The 24,816 square-foot Desert Ballroom divides into 14 smaller rooms and sits beside the 21,120 square-foot Springs Ballroom. Each space has superb acoustics, flexible lighting, 16 to 23-foot high ceilings, and centralized audio/video and communications controls. Outside each ballroom is ample foyer space for continental breakfasts, coffee breaks, and receptions.  Seven additional breakout rooms are easily accessible.

The Chairman’s and President’s Boardrooms are the ideal locales for getting down to serious business-each is equipped with pop-up power/modem/data ports; and a central control system for window shades, lights, and projection screens. The rooms also feature CD and cassette player/recorders and video conferencing. All indoor meeting space is located on the lobby level of the resort and is accessible through its own private entrance with covered porte cochere. The temperature of each room can be adjusted individually via the state-of-the-art climate control system.

Many events are also held outdoors in the desirable desert climate. Five locations throughout the resort are ideal for a casual breakfast, lunch, reception, or dinner, including The Pointe, which is surrounded by a mini-orchard and a view of lakes and majestic mountains.

The Business Center is located adjacent to the meeting space and provides desktop publishing, graphic layout and design, full color printing up, faxing, shipping, copying, and equipment rental.

DINING    Desert Springs Resort & Spa offers a wide range of options for dining and imbibing, each with its own ambiance.
