LA Galaxy hit a bump vs. Seattle losing 2-0 as the playoffs get closer (8/09)

The LA Galaxy had been hot as of late coming into the game vs. the Seattle Sounders FC.  Well after a Red Card to David Beckham early in the game against Peter Vagenas, the wind was taken out of the team and they couldn’t recoup.  The call was very questionable for a red card and should have been a yellow in my opinion.  Captain and Star player Landon Donovan sat out the first half as he was recovering from a touch of swine flu he caught while playing against Mexico in Mexico City the week before for a world cup-qualifying match.  When he entered in the second half without Beckham, the chances were and far between. He had 1-2 opportunities to score but was denied.  Veteran Kasey Keller was stellar in goal while goals in each half by Steve Zakuani and Fredy Montero led to the 2-0 victory.  Seattle also received a red card later in the second half but that was nullified as Eddie Lewis got taken off with a red card soon thereafter.  The Galaxy is still in a good position for the playoffs and rankings despite the loss. The next three games are vs. the Chicago Fire, DC United and Chivas US which will prove pivotal in the race for the playoffs.   More at www.lagalaxy.com
