Club Med Cancun Feature and Cancun Transfers Transportation September 2013

Destination Cancun Club Med- American Airlines was my flight preference through Dallas from Los Angeles and all went well. Visit www.aa.com for more info.   Upon arriving in Cancun, I found my driver in the meet and greet area (holding a sign with my name) for Cancun Transfers. This company was super professional, on time and I highly recommend them for your pickup and drop-off back to the airport. Visit them and reserve at  www.cancuntransfers.com

The ride was about 25 minutes to Club Med.  Upon arriving, I was greeted with a cool towel and ice tea to drink before getting shown to my room, which was centrally located between the main lobby area and tennis courts, sailing and kayaking.  It was a short 2-day visit so I made the most of it with staff member Forrest Graef on checking out as many activities as possible while enjoying the all-inclusive resort.  Some of the highlights included swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear warm ocean water right off their beautiful beach.

The village was very quiet after Labor Day, which could be a plus, or minus depending on what you are looking for.  So if you are looking for not a lot of people, come after Labor Day and before the Holidays in December.  We felt like VIPs as we could do most all activities without waiting too long as the village was about 20 % occupied.  The downside is if you go at that time of the year is not being able to meet too many new people. The GO’s (employees there) were all super hospitable, friendly and helpful.  Some sports we enjoyed were water-skiing, tennis, sailing, kayaking, swimming, fitness center with classes and ping-pong.  The all you can eat buffet is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The made to order omelets were fantastic as well as the waffles and delicious fruits.  For lunch and dinner, they had a vast variety of meats, fresh seafood, salads and many accompaniments.  Of course, they had plenty of dessert options including their popular chocolate bread.  We highly suggest having at least one dinner at the steakhouse where reservations are a must. The sit down meal was great and you can eat and drink as much as you want.  There is a wine list for purchase but the red and whites that are included were very good that enhanced my meal.

Club Med’s Cancun Yucatan (http://www.clubmed.us/cm/resort-cancun-yucatan-mexico_p-115-l-US-v-CANC-ac-vh.html, ph (888) 932-2582) is an award winning, top tier family resort ideally located on the southern tip of the hotel zone along Cancun, Mexico’s Mayan Riviera.  Don’t let that mislead you into thinking it’s not great for singles or groups of friends.  There are plenty of activities to suit everyone’s needs regardless of your age and athletic abilities.  There is, however, one feature that no other resort in Cancun can match – the pristine beach and location of the facility.

Club Med took advantage of being one of the first resorts built in Cancun by scoring the absolute best location along the entire coastline.  The swimming beach on the north side of the facility is a perfect cove, protected by a natural jetty of rocks that keeps the surface calm and enhances your swimming experience.  This is key, as the facility does not have a lap pool for workouts so the calm, crystal clear water beside the lobby is a dream.  Around the jetty and farther to the south is the snorkeling reef area, the best in all of Cancun.

Even if you’re traveling alone, the GOs (full time on-site employees) at Club Med act like companions when they ask politely if they can eat with you in the main cafeteria.  It’s always interesting talking to people that have traveled the world and speak multiple languages.  You never feel alone as the GOs make all GMs (guests of the resort) feel fully inclusive in every social gathering, celebration and entertainment piece.  The chief of the village named Jeff was very hospitable and helpful. Club Med does a fantastic job selecting the right people to run the ship. It seems like the employees really love their job when they talk to you.  The Resort has a Mediterranean feel that is a nice change from the standard hotel look and the rooms are casual yet elegant.
